Stick with it!

Back in the day when I was a little girl, even though that was not so long ago, I could walk home from school by myself. There was almost nothing to worry about. Buying me a wristwatch was one mistake my parents made because I now had the device with which to determine when pick up was late and to conclude that it was time to head home on my own. My brother often pulled up a few meters ahead of me along the way and each time he asked why I just couldn’t wait.

See, his question was never ‘what if something bad happened to you?’ and I guess that’s because it was a much safer world back then. But not today. Everything is different now and this doesn’t come as a surprise to me because it’s already been said that as the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. So you can understand why there is so much evil in our world today.

I’m looking at this list now… self absorbed, money hungry… I guess it’s normal people who allowed these traits to develop in and take control of them to the point that they no longer feel any guilt when they do wrong as a result. So I have to check myself every now and then and snuff out any of these flames that may have been kindled in my life. We must do the inward search and make sure we don’ stray from the path of truth – make sure we don’t become a part of the problem.

Also, we must not allow ourselves be overwhelmed by the evil around us. Yes, it’s on the news. You don’t need to search far before you find bad news but we must never let it faze us. Rather, we should stick with the good we learned and believed and be willing to guide others who may have lost their way. Though it may not be easy, we must keep on shining as lights.

Stick with it!
