Time out!

I am finally on vacation and I’m having a blast. From waking up after sunrise, rather than before, to having enough time to relax in a tub of hot water spiced with Lippia Citriodora flower extract, to following the most captivating aroma in the air to the restaurant it’s coming from and then enjoying the exciting blend of familiar and strange spices in the meal, to a full body massage that takes you in and out of consciousness. It is such a rejuvenating experience.

In times like these, I am grateful for support systems. How else would this be possible? Some people can’t take a break because they feel things will fall apart if they step away for a moment. Well, I’ve seen occupants of critical positions pass on, and somehow, life goes on. Soon enough, the announcement is made for their replacement and people settle into the new normal. Life still goes on, even without handover notes from them.

Sadly, they pass on permanently, but we can take something positive out of that expression and learn to temporarily pass on our responsibilities to trusted and able hands so we can take time out and go away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives to a place where we can rest, relax and be refreshed. Then we return reenergized and empowered to move those important aspects of our lives to the next level.

Do you have those trusted and able hands? If you don’t, now’s the time to get to work on that project. Keep in mind though, one good turn deserves another. As they say, ‘scratch my back, I scratch yours’; and as the good teacher once said, ‘do unto others what you would have them do to you’. In other words, treat people the same way you want them to treat you. Don’t just go looking for helpers. Be prepared to give help as well.
