Your Best

I just watched a video of a young and extremely talented doctor/singer who passed away after an accident.

I’m thinking – he was all that yet his life came to an end after it took a turn for even greater heights.

What happens to dreams, desires, and ambitions when a life comes to an end? Death often means the end – case closed, nothing more to be done; but in some cases dreams outlive the dreamers in diverse ways such that their lives keep speaking and having an impact even when they are no more – people’s memories of the person, people buying into their vision and running with it, the lives they touched, books they wrote, and so on.

While there is life, there is hope. While I’m here, I’ll give each day my best and be sure to leave a legacy. ‘There goes another dream’, you may say; but we must not stop dreaming, thinking and imagining. Albert Einstein said ‘Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions’. So I’ll keep dreaming.

How about you? How are you living today? Are you truly living or just wasting time? Are you making a difference in anybody’s life? Are you making each day count?

Here’s a toast to your success and to fulfillment in life. May all your good dreams come true, and if you feel overwhelmed already, there’s help. Call on God. Access Code: JESUS. He asked us to cast  our cares on Him because He cares for us. If you haven’t done so already, this is a good time. And if you’ve pursued and accomplished so many things and yet you find yourself searching for meaning, it’s a good time to call. Make that call.

Pursuit of Purpose

A certain man did his job so well from day to day and was extremely valuable to the organization he worked for. Somewhere along the line, certain changes were to be made that would require him to move away from his base to work in a different location. He thought about the impact this would have on his family… but all efforts to avert this move fell through, so he resigned.

While between jobs, he redirected his time and other resources to something he loved doing – real estate. He completed and sold more and more houses so much so that he didn’t need to get another job. He had found a way to commercialize his passion. This in itself is a blessing. When you find a way to earn money while doing what you love to do, you’re truly blessed.

But there’s something else here. This man’s company aims to deliver affordable excellence and people have gained from this. It’s almost the way I feel about Hyundai Santa Fe – it’s cheaper than a number of luxury cars but you still have seven passenger seating, all wheel drive, rear-view camera, Bluetooth hands free phone system, a good number of strategically located airbags, remote keyless entry system with alarm, and the side mirrors respond to you when you approach.

Sometimes we feel like giving up on our passion because of how challenging it seems to get it to the highway, and because we feel it’s just one person’s passion, so what’s the big deal? But when next that thought comes to mind, think about the many people who will be better off because you chose to pursue your passion. Think of the people who will be grateful that you didn’t give up on your dream or purpose.

One step at a time, here a little, there a little… slowly but surely, you’ll get there if you keep on keeping on and trusting God to direct you into the fullness of all He has planned for you.

Your Life Purpose in 5 minutes

Each time you attend a success or leadership seminar, you’ll hear something about purpose. You hear it everywhere – at work, at church, in business circles, everywhere. In fact, before you create anything, you have to be very clear on the purpose of your intended creation. You must know for sure what your product is meant to do, achieve, be used for, and the value it will add once it’s ready for use.

Without a purpose, the whole process of creating something becomes confusing and complicated with uncertainties lurking around every turn. If we’re to learn from the master Creator, God, we’ll see he too began with purpose in mind for everything he created, leading up to the creation of man, before which he said ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule…’ Awesome! We were created to rule!

For a long time, I wondered about my purpose. I read books, listened to messages, attended workshops, and so on. I recently found  what I now consider the simplest and quickest strategy for discovering the purpose for one’s life . Here’s the link to the video: How to know your life purpose in 5 minutes by Adam Leipzig, the CEO of Entertainment Media Partners, an American film and theatre producer, film executive and writer and former Disney Executive.

Simply put, you need to answer five questions, then merge your answers into a sentence to give you the statement of your purpose.

  • Who are you?
  • What do you love to do?
  • Who do you do it for?
  • What do they want/need?
  • How do they change as a result of what you give them?

Now it’s clear to me what area I’m to rule in. I hope it’ll be clear to you too after you watch the ten-minute video.

Enjoy!

Who I am and Why I’m here

Who am I? I’m a singer, songwriter, chemical & environmental engineer, wife to one husband, and mother to three wonderful children whom I learn from day after day.

As I go through life, I try to learn from my experiences and those of others. I believe we can create a better tomorrow by applying these lessons so I share them on my blog so others can benefit. You can call this my little contribution to make the world a better place, one lesson at a time.

A dose of motivation is needful every now and then. Sometimes the pressures of life hit hard and bring us down to the point where we even begin to consider giving up. When I feel the need, I do not hesitate to push out some positivity pills to boost the morale of a weary man on a good mission and get him back on his feet. So, yes. You’ll find some motivational pieces here.

Goal setting, planning, work-life balance, family life, purpose, destiny, and success are some of the things that interest me. I love to work hard towards set goals and to celebrate when the job is done. Achievements keep me motivated.

If blogging can serve as a platform for networking, I hope it brings me in contact with people of integrity who believe that they have all it takes and then take deliberate steps everyday to be all and to accomplish all they were created to.

If you’re thinking of the sky as your starting point, rather than your limit – you’re my kind of person. Let’s make a mark; let’s make our world a better place; let’s leave a legacy.

Time

I fell ill. Wow! This usually doesn’t happen to me, but it did. The height of it was the moment I fell to the ground while trying to get from the hospital bed to the restroom which was only about 10 feet away. Someone helped me back to the bed and a nurse assisted me to the restroom.
The amazing thing about this experience is how normal I felt in my mind, I could say I was mentally sound, but physically incapacitated. I knew everything that had to be done, and that I would have loved to do, but I also knew my body was unable to handle any of those at that time.
Now I am well and totally excited about it. All the pain’s gone and my strength is restored. I feel great. I can move about and do what I want to do and I am thankful for this. But in retrospect, I learned something from this illness. I feel like I had a peek into how it feels to be advanced in years, especially if you didn’t take good care of your body when you were young. You become more aware of the fact that your body is a container, a house, a case, a shell… and you experience the frustration on not having it respond to you as you would desire. It’s like pressing the accelerator of an old car and the car’s just not responding.
They say time waits for no one, and we all get older as the years go by. I do not want to realize in my old age that I am yet to do the things I’m meant to do in this lifetime. I want to know them now and pursue them now; now that I still have zest and vitality; now that I can think it and my body can respond accordingly to produce the result I desire.
Time waits for no one indeed. Take time out to review those things you’ve said you’ll do and then begin to strategize and take bold steps towards achieving them. We have to WAKE UP! and get about our business today. We don’t have time to waste.
